Students receive an hour to finish the 60-question math section which boils down to roughly a minute per question. The multiple-choice problems cover content areas such as pre-algebra,elementaryalgebra, intermediatealgebra, coordinategeometry, plane geometry, andtrigonometry. Students must be comfortable using computational skills and basic formulas, but a knowledge of complex formulas or the ability to perform extensive computations is not required. The Pre-Algebra questions make up 23% of the ACT math section. These problems are based on basic operations that use whole numbers, decimals, fractions, integers, place value, square roots and approximations the concept of exponents, scientific notation, factors, ratio, proportion, and percent. Content will also cover linear equations in one variable, absolute value and ordering numbers by value, elementary counting techniques and simple probability, data collection, representation and interpretation, and assessing how well students understand descriptive statistics. Elementary Algebra questions cover the properties of exponents and square roots, evaluation of algebraic expressions through substitution, using variables to express functional relationships, understanding algebraic operations, and the solution of quadratic equations by factoring. They are 17% of the ACT math. Intermediate Algebra problems make up 15% of the math portion. They assess how well students understand the quadratic formula, absolute value inequalities and equations, radical and rational expressions, patterns and sequences, and systems of equations, quadratic inequalities, modeling, matrices, functions, roots of polynomials, and complex numbers. Coordinate Geometry questions involve graphing and the relations between graphs and equations. This includes points, lines, polynomials, circles and other curves, graphing inequalities, slope, parallel and perpendicular lines, distance, midpoints, and conics. Coordinate Geometry questions are 15% of the ACT math exam. Plane Geometry questions are designed to measure your understanding of the properties and relations of plane figures. Angles and relations among perpendicular and parallel lines, properties of circles, triangles, rectangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids, transformations, the concept of proof and proof techniques, volume, and applications of geometry to three dimensions are all covered. Plane Geometry problems are 23% of the math test. Lastly, Trigonometry problems are 7% of the ACT math section. These questions cover trigonometric relations in right triangles, values and properties of trigonometric functions, graphing trigonometric functions, modeling using trigonometric functions, the usage of trigonometric identities, and solving for trigonometric equations. Can you use a calculator? You may on this part of the exam, but youll have to put it away when its time for the next section on the ACT. Make sure that your calculator is ACT-approved! All TI-89 or TI-92 calculators are permitted as is any four-function, graphing, or scientific calculator. Any calculators with a QWERTY keyboard are prohibited. The ACT Math test is difficult because it assess knowledge that youve learned, not just intuited from the problem at hand. It includes a wide range of material from your middle and high school math courses and since so many topics are covered, its important that you have a strong understanding of all these areas. In order to do your best, you can follow some simple tips. These will help you approach the ACT math and the structure of the exam so test day will be a success. However, these tips cant replace a good, old fashioned knowledge. Understanding these strategies and applying them with your math skills will help you reach the score you want. That said. Review, Review, Review. Give yourself plenty of time to go back and revisit areas you havent spent time with in a while, or ones that were tricky in the past. It doesnt matter if youve gotten straight As in pre-algebra through trig you can still benefit from a full review of material from years past. The ACT math covers a broad, broad area, and goes into tiny details youve probably forgotten, and will be important on the exam. Stay in your time frame. As we said earlier, the ACT math exam is designed to allot you a minute per question. Spend too long figuring out that trigonometry problem, and youll be rushing through the rest of the test. Know the simple rules. The writers of the ACT are trying to trick you, so you have to outwit them. They want you to forget the basics, so make sure you have those down before test day arrives. Dont forget the little things like what you do to one side of an equation must be done to the other side. Memorize your formulas. Sure, theres a lot. But having these down pat saves you from having to plug in answer choices, so make sure you can solve for X all by yourself. You should be comfortable figuring out everything from the angles of intersecting lines to using the quadratic formula and solving for the area of a rhombus. The ACT math section is tough. But whether you work with a tutor or by yourself, its important to make sure you have your math knowledge down; using ACT practice testsis a great way to do this. Spend time studying and reviewing for the ACTmath portion, and you should be able to achieve your target score on test day.

We all know the importance of caring for your instrument, and guitars require a good amount of attention.   After all, where would musicians like Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert, who both took home multiple honors during last nights Academy of Country Music Awards, be without their trusty guitars?   Guitar strings break.   Cracks might appear in the wood.   Pegs and frets may end up loose or damaged.   But by taking a few extra moments to give your guitar some TLC, you can improve your sound and ensure years of playing and learning to come. Lets begin with your guitar strings.   Here are some things to remember: 1. Wipe down your guitar strings. This is a priority for guitar maintenance. Each time you finish playing, wipe down your guitar strings with a soft and dry cloth. Make sure to run the cloth in between the strings and fingerboard, as well. (Heres a great visual guide.) Run it all the way down the length of the neck of the guitar to get rid of all the perspiration and rust. 2. Use string cleaner. There are a few great guitar string cleaners available that will keep your guitar strings clean and allow you to play faster. It can also reduce excessive finger noise. You can use most cleaners on strings, the fretboard and the back of the guitar neck. 3. Leave your guitar in a case when not in use. When you leave your guitar out, its exposed to air, moisture and heat.   Instead, try storing it in its case when youre not using it this will protect it from the elements, and it only takes a few seconds to take it out of its case when youre ready to play. 4. Wash your hands! This should be a no-brainer.   If your hands are covered in sweat and grime, it will transfer to the guitar strings.   So play it safe: just wash your hands before playing! By listening closely to those who work for them, introverted leaders will be able to increase efficiency and place employees in positions that utilize their strengths. And by listening and showing empathy to customers, introverted leaders will be able to hone in on what’s really working for the company â€" and fix what’s not. 2. Think Before Acting Introverts are naturally more thoughtful than most extroverts when it comes to decision-making. Extroverts are usually quick to act and make decisions. Some companies value this skill since it is useful in moments of pressure when a choice needs to be made, but thoughtful, methodical decision-making will usually bring better results in the long run. 3. Use Self-Awareness to Improve Because they spend more time listening and observing, introverts are also usually more self-aware than extroverts. This skill can be used to be in a constant state of self-improvement. By noticing areas of strength and weakness, introverts can identify how best to be of service to their company. 4. Work with Individuals Introverts do well in one-on-one situations rather than getting things done with group work. This can be advantageous for someone in a leadership position, since it allows the leader to get to know employees and learn what they’re capable of. Be Cognizant of Your Limits Now that we’ve talked about introvert strengths, it’s time to discuss areas that an introvert may need to use their introspective talent in order to set personal limits. Take Time for Self-Care The core difference between introverts and extroverts is about where they get their energy. Introverts get energy from being alone, so an introverted leader should take time to be alone and restore themselves on a regular basis. An introvert leader who neglects their need for alone time could end up feeling frazzled, burned out, or listless, rendering them an ineffective leader. At the same time, it’s important that your employees feel comfortable enough to approach you when needed, which may sometimes come at an expense to your alone time. The bottom line is, take the time to take care of your employees as your job requires without neglecting taking care of yourself in the process. 2. Schedule Difficult Conversations Talking can be draining for introverts, so difficult conversations are even more challenging than light-hearted small talk. But how do you develop these skills? Implementing goal-setting techniques can help any strategic leader get to where they want to be in their career. A good plan will include the following: First, pick a skill you’d like to improve on. Next, write down the skill and identify steps you’ll need to take to develop the skill. Break it down as much as possible, into smaller, easier-to-achieve steps. Set a timeline for how soon you want to accomplish the goal. Get to work! For example, if you want to start showcasing your talents more at work, you’ll first need to identify what your talents are, brainstorm a list of ways you can bring them up with co-workers, and set a timeline for when you’ll tackle your goal. If you’re wanting to take more time for self-care, you’ll need to make a list of self-care activities and schedule them into your calendar, then actually follow through. These days it is often a good idea to book well in advance  (as early as possible) particularly when looking around (trying to find) the cheapest airline tickets.For those of us lucky enough (fortunate) to live within the EU we get the choice of a number of low cost airlines (very cheap) such as Easyjet and Ryanair.These airlines are always offering low cost options  (choices) to any different destinations and you can pick and choose (decide) from a wide variety of destinations. It really makes planning a holiday so easy.In addition  (also) to that if you are not fussy  (do not mind) which day you leave or on which day you return  (come back) then you can get really cheap deals  (options) mid-week  (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday). This can save quite a bit of money!After you get the flights booked you need some accommodation  (somewhere to eat and sleep) depending on your requirements  (what you want) the options are endless  (there are many options).The traditional accommodation a 3 or 4 star hotel is still everyone’s preference as you get that extra luxury, perhaps a pool or a gym or a nice terraced restaurant. However, if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful  (low cost with simple comforts) option then many of us are now choosing form a wide range of Airbnb options.This mainly (normally) means you will get a room in an apartment or house in the city of your choice.The money you save on your air tickets  (flight costs) can mean you can go a little  upmarket  (more expensive choice) for your hotel or if you get a very good deal (low price) with Airbnb then you could perhaps rent a car and explore the area or eat out  (dine in a restaurant) more frequently than you originally intended. I have gone for the low air ticket and good value Airbnb accommodation so I am able to visit a part of Europe that I have never been to before.These cheaper airlines do have  restrictions  (limits) in relation to yo ur  luggage  (baggage, suitcases) so be prepared to travel light  (do not take much with you). This can be a problem when your other half   (your wife, husband or partner) decides to take everything but the kitchen sink!  (as much as possible!)So pack that bag, make sure to include your sun block  (sun cream) mosquito spray and your E-reader and you are all set  (ready to go).
